Dairygold’s biodiversity tree planting programme
Last week, Dairygold’s Chief Executive Conor Galvin, along with Dairygold’s Chairman, John O’Gorman, launched the Dairygold Biodiversity Tree Programme on the farm of participants John and
Michelle Fox in Ballylanders, Co. Limerick along with Dairygold’s Sustainability Advisor Ciara Donovan and Stephen O’Mahony from Dairygold’s project partners Trees on the Land.
To date, over 40,000 trees of native provenance have been planted by Dairygold milk and malting barley suppliers.
The immense demand for and uptake in this programme, has guaranteed that it will return this autumn in a bid to further increase the biodiversity on Dairygold farms. The positive reaction of suppliers to this programme has highlighted farmers’ enthusiasm for supporting biodiversity and shows how eager so many farmers are to enhance the wildlife on their farms.
