Fundraising concert for Ukraine

-

A number of weeks ago as the world watched on in horror as the horrendous war unfolded in Ukraine, scenes we never thought we’d see again in Europe, played out before our eyes and demanded a response. Following on from a small act of solidarity when Saint George’s Arts and Heritage Centre changed its external lighting to the Ukrainian blue and yellow, a group of artists, musicians and businessmen came to together with the Centre to do something more tangible. The upcoming fundraising concert for Ukraine, on Wednesday, April 6th at 8pm is the response borne out from this desire to continue helping our neighbours in this war torn country.

Speaking to TheAvondhu, Saint George’s chairman Bill Power spoke of the generosity of all involved – “We’ve been amazed by the response from everyone, all the musicians, Justin our sound engineer and our promotional materials through the Print House have been 100% donated - this is a true community affair”.

The ever growing list of artists performing on the night include The Fogues, Before the Ghosts, Bel Canto Choir, Majella Cullagh, Ciarán O’Gorman and Grace McMahon and Mo O’Connor.

Saint George’s, Mitchelstown & Ireland stands with the people of Ukraine, in the hope that this war will end soon. Until then all funds raised at this event will be sent to the Ukraine to help those most in need.

Tickets €15 through eventbrite.ie or in The Favourite and Reidy’s shop. Donations can be made on the night as well.
