NIGHT OF CELEBRATION FOR PATSY

More than two years after Patsy O’Mahony was inducted into the Avondhu GAA Hall of Fame at the Avondhu GAA Social in December 2019, we finally got to host the home leg of the celebration in the parish hall last Friday night. In what is an Avondhu tradition, members of the North Cork Board travel to the home club of the Hall of Fame winner for a night of recognition and celebration to honour a great achievement.

Due to Covid, lockdowns and after a few false starts, the night finally went ahead and even though the current wave of Covid meant a number of people who wished to attend could not make it, nonetheless a great crowd turned out to celebrate and congratulate Patsy on this well-deserved accolade. This award has been presented by the Board since 1968 with Patsy becoming the third Kilworth recipient following in the footsteps of Pad Coughlan RIP and Bill Magnier RIP.

Patsy has given a lifetime of service to the club and remains as active as ever, being part of our weekly lotto committee, co-ordinator and driving force behind the Rebels Bounty draw, a key figure in any club fundraising venture and always willing and able to help with any work needed doing at our club grounds. Congratulations and well done again Patsy!

Sincere thanks to all those who helped in any way in organising this most enjoyable event.
