Killavulle­n always in control over Dromina in Div 1 HL

Killavulle­n 2-22 Dromina 3-7

Killavulle­n were never troubled by Dromina in the Cavanagh’s Fermoy Div 1 HL at Killavulle­n on Sunday.

From the offset the home side with a good blend of youth and experience dictated matters with Jamie Magnier in superb form at corner forward finishing with a personally tally of 14 points. The winners moved into a 0-6 to 0-1 lead before three points from Dromina’s Davy Jones closed the margin to 0-6 to 0-4 by the end of the first quarter. Dromina were denied a certain goal soon after when Kieran Cagney set up the well placed Luke Morrissey whose effort at goal was brilliantl­y saved by the Killavulle­n keeper Michael Cronin. However from here on the winners seized the initiative with Paul O’Sullivan, Eoghan Buckley, Liam Cronin, Brian Cotter and Michael Cagney also impressing and at the break they increased their advantage to 0-13 to 0-5.

The second half was again much the same. Seamus Fox, Jamie Magnier and Michael O’Connor reeled off early points before they struck for the game’s opening goal in the 37th minute when Brian Cotter, Michael O’Connor and Paul O’Sullivan combined well to set up Barry Murphy who netted. Dromina battled away and in the 41st minute Kieran Cagney billowed the net. At the other end a second Killavulle­n goal courtesy of Paul O’Sullivan helped seal the issue long before the final whistle. In the last ten minutes Dromina battled away. Davy Jones drilled a penalty and a 21 yard free to the net but the proved mere consolatio­n scores with Killavulle­n running out easy winners.
