CYCLING ACTION IN KERRY

-

This Sunday cycling action will be in Kerry where the Carrow Cycling Club will be holding the Jack Drumm Memorial Races and the Fermoy cyclists will be looking forward to doing well here.

There will be a full programme of races for all grades and this will be the first Sunday that the youth cyclists will be in action, as well as the older cyclists. Racing will get underway at 10am and a large fields of cyclists are expected.

Liam O’Brien made a very bright start to his international career on the road as a junior last Sunday when he travelled to Belgium with the Irish team. On a very fast and testing course Liam stayed safely in the leading bunch, despite the very fast pace all through and was looking forward to the finish when unfortunately, there was a multi-rider crash at the front of the bunch.

While Liam didn’t crash himself, he, along with many other cyclists, was delayed by the crash blocking the road and eventually crossed the line a minute behind the winner.

Despite this mishap, Liam was delighted by this experience and is already looking forward to his next international outing.
