Entertaining game all round
Fermoy hosted Mitchelstown in the U16 South Munster League on Saturday 23rd. On a beautiful sunny day Fermoy kicked off into the wind and were soon crossing the try line for the first of many tries. At half-time Fermoy were six tries to one in the lead, tries coming from Cian McCarthy (2), Cian O’Donohue, Eoghain Hanley, Dylan Murphy, and Eoghan Leddy.
Mitchelstown made a game of it in particular in the second half as the game loosened up, scoring three further tries. Fermoy added to their total with tries from Eoghan Looby, Liam Duffy, Tom O’Neill and second tries for Dylan Murphy and Eoghain Hanley. In total Padraig O’Toole converted 5 tries with prop Daithi Óg Lynch converting the final try of the game.
The game was played in good spirits and whilst the scoreline was wide in the end it was nonetheless an entertaining match all round.
