U17 football league

-

On Saturday morning last we played our third U17 Division One football league match at home against Buttevant.

We got off to a great start with a goal by Daniel Whelan inside the opening few minutes. This was followed by some very impressive football from the boys. It took Buttevant a while to get used to the speed by which the Town boys moved the ball. Some excellent free taking from Cian English and further points by Kevin Cotter, Conor Walsh, James Keane, Luke Keane and Eoin Flynn had Town ahead at halftime on a score of 1-10 to 1-6. Some great defending by the fullback line of Simon Whelan, Eoghan Geary and Fionn Hanrahan made Buttevant earn their scores.

The boys continued to pile on the pressure in the second half with further goals from Conor Walsh and Cian English. The midfield of Bobby Baker and Caoimhín O’Gorman were dominating and runs from both wingbacks

Eoin Brenock and Daniel Whelan were causing Buttevant all sort of problems. Great distribution from Callum Burke in goal and some excellent defending by Oisin Hanrahan meant Buttevant could only manage three points in the second half. Tristan Nolan and Paul Flynn both contributed to a fine win by Mitchelstown on a scoreline of Town 3-19 Buttevant 1-9.
