Drive-in at Fermoy Golf Club
The weather was fabulous with all day sunshine and a huge attendance, making for a very successful and long awaited Drive-in at Fermoy Golf Club. As well as the usual weekend competitions there was a threeball scramble to get the ball rolling as we say.
The course was in pristine condition with holes 6 and 7 back in play after winter repairs. With the scramble over there was no delay in getting the main event underway.
President John O’Sullivan was first up and teed off to great applause from the large crowd of supporters lining the front veranda. Lady captain Siobhan Feehan followed with a powerful drive to the delight of the onlookers and our men’s captain Jerry Stanton, not to be outdone, followed suit to much cheering. The junior captain Ben Carey finished off the event with a showstopping performance. He hit a onehanded drive down the first fairway, a distance many of us could only dream of, to thunderous applause.
Finally, president John thanked all who contributed to making the day a huge success. Monica’s catering on the day was as usual above par. Many thanks to her and her wonderful staff.
