Rathcormac Community Council monthly report

-

The Rathcormac Community Council meeting for March 2022 took place fully in person on Monday 22/03 at 8pm in the Old School. Bob Seward, chairperson, welcomed a smaller than usual group to the meeting and proceeded with a busy agenda.

Conor Gurrin read the minutes of the February meeting and these were agreed and signed.

Jonathon then gave the financial report which showed us in good shape due to some of our fund-raising Events getting back on track. The envelope collection was a huge success and gives us much needed Seed Capital to allow us to apply for further grants for the progressing of more developments in the field and village.

SPORTS CAPITAL GRANT

Bob again welcomed the great news that our application for €150K in Sports Capital Grant has been fully granted. This will be a huge help in the Phase 3 developments in the Community Field and Sports Hub. We can now proceed with the development of our running track, tennis courts, and multi purposes games area. Other developments in the field will be the continued development of the family area in the field centre, which will include seating, Tree planting, etc.

FUNDRAISING

This has been going very well. The envelope collection/gofundme project has been a great success and continues to grow. So far it has brought in over €35,000. You are not too late to contribute to that by either dropping your envelope to the hall to Conor and Geraldine between 12 and 1pm on Saturdays or to any Committee member.

This is the first time we have gone to the parish for help despite over €900k being spent in the developments. It is not too late for you to put your mark on the field by now contributing to the effort. It is hugely important that we have Seed Capital as this allows us to apply for huge Grants such as the €150K we have just been granted in Sports Capital. You can only apply for these type Grants if you can show you have Seed Capital in your Accounts. So please consider donating.

If unsure of how to do this look up your Flyer or ring for help to Frank 086-4028398 or Richie 087-2021225 or Geraldine 086-3859237 and we will arrange to collect your envelope. Frank and Richie are in the Hall at the Cards between 8 and 11pm each Tuesday night. Remember this is your Community Hub and Sports Field. Cheques should be made out to Rathcormac Community Council.

RUNNING TRACK

Bob is continuing to work on getting the Running Track contract placed. It may also include the Tennis and Multi-Games Area.

CORK CO COUNCIL

Progress continues with CCC regarding the Village Development Plan. We thank them for their work so far and also for recently granting 10K to allow the construction of the bicycle shelter. The route to the school is now much safer and the traffic around the green has a much better road.

THE INNOVATION CENTRE DEVELOPMENT

We are continuing with the plans for this multi million Euro Project. We are happy with the progress so far. We thank Avondhu/Blackwater for help with our applications for funding etc.

CARDS ON TUESDAYS

The cards started back on Tuesday night, 15th February. We are continuing each Tuesday at 8.15 in the hall and are welcoming more of our old friends back as the weeks pass. We are now back up to half of our old crowd each Tuesday night. Thanks all for that.

VILLAGE ENHANCEMENT

Teresa gave an update on further plans for the improvement of the village appearance. Some great work going on there.

ALLOTMENTS

The list there is now full and we have put a waiting list in place.

CAR BOOT SALE

The next sale is on next Sunday, 24th April. The sales have been a great success since we restarted in August. The March 27th one was huge. Back to over 150 traders and great crowds of patrons.

ENVIRONMENTAL GROUP

Our Environment Pillar Group is continuing to develop plans to make Rathcormac more Green aware.

CONDOLENCES

These were recorded to recently bereaved families in the district.

NEXT MEETING

This will be in the Old School on 25/04 at 8pm.

Stay safe everybody, keep with the Covid rules for a while more.
