CAR FIRE ON THE MOTORWAY
Friday last was a hectic day for Fermoy Fire Brigade as they attended three separate incidents, writes Katie Glavin.
Members of the fire brigade attended an incident near Grange where a telephone pole had been pulled down by a tractor and trailer, causing a danger to motorists and pedestrians in the area.
That same day, the brigade attended a car fire on the motorway, located between Junction 16 (Rathcormac) and Junction 17 (Watergrasshill)
No injuries were reported from the driver or passenger at the time. It is understood that while the fire was extinguished, the car was destroyed.
Mitchelstown fire brigade was also in attendance at the car fire incident.
That evening, Fermoy Fire Brigade attended the scene of an oil spillage, likely caused by a vehicle leaking fuel.
A clean-up was carried out on the affected area from ‘the cross’ to Clondulane village.
