Trocaire visit to Coláiste an Chraoibhín

-

Janet Twomey of Trocaire recently visited the students in 1F class at Coláiste an Chraoibhín to give a talk on the work of the organisation and their 2022 Lenten Campaign.

This year the Lenten campaign focuses on Zimbabwe, a southeastern African country that has been badly affected by climate change.

Climate change has had a devastating effect on the community in Zimbabwe, where 70% of the population is dependent on agriculture.

Trocaire is working in partnership with local people and organisations in order to support communities so that they can continue to farm in these challenging climate conditions.

This year’s project focuses on Sustainable Food Systems, food security, nutrition, climate change and more.

The aim of this project is to support and upskill communities to enable them to live with independence and dignity.

Trocaire works globally in over 20 countries across the world to relieve poverty and tackle injustice.

The 1F class group at Coláiste an Chraoibhín will participate in a sponsored walk in order to raise money for the cause.
