Several local groups within the Cobh Municipal District were allocated funding this week by Cork County Council under the Community Funds grant allocations and were announced at the Cobh Municipal District meeting on Monday.

Watergrasshill Tidy Towns received an €8,000 allocation, while significant funding was also allocated to Watergrasshill groups under Amenity Grants.

The local GAA Club received one of the largest Amenity Grant allocations, coming in at €4,775.

Sums of €2,600 were allocated to the Watergrasshill Community Association, the Community Hall and to Watergrasshill Planning and Development Association.

Watergrasshill United saw funding of €1,100 allocated to them, while €1,475 was allocated to the First Fruits Art Centre.

Elsewhere, Carrig na bhFear Juvenile GAA Club was granted funding to the tune of €2,075.

The Irish Bee Conservation Project also made the list with funding of €875 allocated while Knockraha Area Community Association CLG was granted €600.

Several residents’ associations were also allocated funding ranging between €150 to €1000. Local Councillor Sheila O’Callaghan said she was very happy with the funding allocated locally.

“Watergrasshill, Whitechurch, Carrignavar and Knockraha all received funding. Some €40,000 odd has been allocated to the northern side of the municipal district between residents’ associations grants, Tidy Towns funding, and clubs and organisations grants, which I am very pleased with,” Cllr O’Callaghan said.
