New Tidy Towns projects to get underway in Fermoy

- KATIE GLAVIN

The Annual General Meeting of Fermoy Tidy Towns took place on Monday last in the Wagon Tavern and to say there was a poor turnout would be an understatement.

All of the Tidy Towns group are local volunteers who give freely of their time to keeping Fermoy clean and tidy and if they are not going to get the support of the people of the town then it is only going to get dirtier and dirtier,

Fermoy Tidy Towns group can only do so much and it is up to the people to keep their own areas clean and litter-free and not be leaving it up to someone else to do it for them.

There are people out there who give the group a helping hand when needed and the group are very grateful for this.

The group would like to thank all those who supported their recent fundraisers and helped to raise much-needed funds to help keep the town clean and tidy.

Now, the group are planning a few new projects this year and with the support of Cork County Council and Avondhu Blackwater Partnership, it is hoped that these will be completed in the next couple of months and will help improve the appearance of the town.

Fermoy Tidy Town are always looking for new volunteers and if you are interested in getting involved please contact Noel McCarthy (chairman) on 086-3751736 or Paul Kavanagh (project manager) on 0862620630.

The following is a list of officers: Noel McCarthy (chairman), Francis Linehan (secretary), PJ O’Leary (treasurer) and Paul Kavanagh (project manager).
