Fermoy Field Club is back

-

Fermoy Field Club has re-commenced its activities and will hold its first lecture of the current season on Wednesday next, 13th April at 8pm in Fermoy Community Youth Centre.

The speaker will be retired Brigadier General Richard Heaslip, who is no stranger to Fermoy, having been stationed in Fitzgerald Camp early in his career. He will speak about Trooper Patrick Mullins, a native of Kilbeheny who was killed in a gun-battle in the Congo in September 1961 after his patrol was ambushed in Elizabethville. Though still in his teens, he single-handedly fought an enemy platoon while protecting an injured comrade. His body was never recovered.

Admission to the talk is €7 (members €5). Members are reminded that membership fees paid for 2002 will remain valid for this year. New members especially welcome.
