Footballers lose away to Buttevant

-

Our Div. 1 footballers travelled to Buttevant looking to make it 2 wins from 2 in the league. However, Buttevant started well and owned the ball for the first 15 minutes, but we defended very well and held them scoreless thanks to some fine goalkeeping from Adrian O’Driscoll. They had a point from play, and we equalised through a Kevin Kiely free. Buttevant continued to press and led 1-4 to point after 15 minutes. We then hit back with 1-2 from play with Kevin getting the goal and Brian O’Driscoll and Denis Kiely each kicking a point. However, Buttevant capitalised on a turnover with their second goal to leave the half time score 2-4 to 1-3 in their favour. James Roche went off injured at half time and was replaced by Fionn Hess. Buttevant went up a gear after half time and added 1-4 to 2 points for Ballyhooly. We did miss a penalty that would have kept us in the game but in the end Buttevant were just that bit sharper than us on the day and deserved their win on a final score of 3-8 to 1-5 in favour of the home side.
