CATHERINE’S LADIES OUT FOR FIRST GAME

-

Great excitement Monday evening last as our U10 girls from St Catherine’s Ladies Football Club travelled to Rathcomac to play their very first ladies football game.

The girls showed an amazing team effort and got to show off their newly learnt skills - soloing, bouncing and kicking the ball down Pyne’s field up against another great bunch of girls from Bride Rovers. Thanks to Brian Murphy for hosting the game. A big thank you for the support parents showed on the sideline. Lots of smiling faces all round.

It has been just 3 weeks since St. Catherines had their first ever ladies football training and an incredible 90 girls from age 8 to 14 turned up for the first session. We were very lucky to have Cork Ladies footballer Orlagh Farmer, to give the girls skills demonstration and played some fun games with them on their first night. She had lots of words of encouragement to the coaches and girls.

A huge amount of support from parents in the area willing to coach, has given these girls the opportunity to discover their talent in sport, make new friends, have fun and be part of a team. Exciting times ahead for St Catherines!
