Mitchelstown were convincing winners over Dromtarriffe in the Cork Credit Union Div 2 Group B Co FL game at Mitchelstown on Sunday.

The home side gained supremacy from the start in the half backline and midfield sectors. Their attack in regular supply took some very good scores. A foul on Shane Beston produced a 2nd minute penalty that Aaron O’Brien converted. Colin English and Dylan ReidyPrice added a point each.

Dromtarriffe had a point by Darren O’Connor after good play by Tomas Howard. Dylan Reidy-Price goaled for ‘Town’ after a poor kickout. Pa Magee landed a point after a five man attack. In the 17th minute Daniel O’Keeffe pointed for the Duhallow side. The home side added points by Sean Walsh and Aaron O’Brien as they built up a commanding lead by the 2lst minute 2-7 to 0-2.

Thomas Howard placed Evan Murphy who pointed. Mitchelstown followed with a succession of points by Sean Walsh, Joseph O’Sullivan, Sean O’Sullivan and Michael Walsh as they moved 2-11 to 0-3 clear.

Both sides exchanged two points with ‘Town ahead at the break, 2-13 to 0-5.

Dromtarriffe improved greatly in the second half. Evan Murphy came close to an early goal but was denied by Luke Hanna who made a double save. Aaron O’Brien and Sean Walsh with points for the winners who moved 2-15 to 0-5 clear after 41 minutes. Both sides made a number of substitutions.

Dromtarriffe had six more points while Mitchelstown had two in this period. In the end Mitchelstown were comfortable winners by a 12 point margin.
