The Avondhu

Winter wanes, spring flows on and summer beckons!

-

We remain in seasonal change over the past few weeks with many bright sunny (but sometimes chilly) days and an occasional touch of morning frost – ever the enemy of golf greens.

The greens remain sandy and unpredictable as we have not had significant rain to wash the sand through since they were top-dressed – the forecast would suggest we may not have long to wait but perhaps it will be worth waiting for. Fairway growth seems to be progressing, but bunkers were not fully ready for playing to a handicap counting standard for this past weekend 1st/2nd/3rd April. All involved are confident that next weekend’s competition will be counting for handicap index purposes (but as always, weather can have a say too)!

We all also would like to wish Seamus Power well in the Augusta Masters this week – lovely to see a near-neighbour on the World stage.
