FLOOD MITIGATION WORKS FOR BALLYLANDERS
Ballylanders is to see flood mitigation works in the village to the tune of €45,000, writes Marian Roche.
This week, the Office of Public Works announced the approval of the works, the application of which was made via Limerick City and County Council.
A two kilometre new and extended open drain will be provided for at Spittle, to the east of the village.
The works will be undertaken under the Office of Public Works’ Minor Flood Mitigation Works and Coastal Protection Scheme. Under the scheme, local authorities can apply for funding to undertake minor flood mitigation works, or studies to address localised flooding. The scheme generally applies where a solution can be readily identified and achieved in a short timeframe.
The announcement was made by Limerick man and Minister of State with responsibility for the Office of Public Works, Mr. Patrick O’Donovan, who hails from Newcastle West
