Councillors await Railway Gardens update

- KATIE GLAVIN

Councillors in West Waterford continue to await an update on the Railway Gardens development in Lismore, as it is understood that a private developer has taken over the site.

In July 2021, councillors were informed that the proposed development of 17 houses in the heritage town was ‘in jeopardy’ as the developer informed the council that he was not in a position to proceed with the project.

At this week’s Dungarvan-Lismore District meeting, an update on the matter was sought by local councillor John Pratt, however, no update on the matter was issued at the meeting.

KEYS HANDED OVER IN TALLOW?

Cllr Pratt also sought an update regarding the hand-out of keys to tenants for two homes at Brideview Close in Tallow.

Waterford City and County Council Director of Housing, Ivan Grimes, stated that he did not know if keys had physically been handed out to tenants yet.

“My understanding is that the two houses are in the process of being allocated,” Mr Grimes said.

Local councillor James Tobin stated that he understood that keys had been given to one of the new Brideview Close tenants.
