Wine lovers ‘pop’ in to Richmond House
Richmond House, off Walker’s Hill in Fermoy, was the grand setting for last Friday night’s wine tasting held in association with Cork based wine distributors, Bubble Brothers, who were represented by local man, Julian Alubaidy.
Proprietors, Fiachra and Debbie O Cinneide rolled out the red carpet for guests, who were treated to a combination of accessible and exclusive, new and old world wines.
Commenting on the event, Julian said the setting, the interaction of patrons and the quality of wine being sampled, all made for a most enjoyable occasion.
“I didn’t hesitate when invited, hopefully, the wines I choose were enjoyed by all. There was a fantastic atmosphere here this evening,” he said.
EXPERTS IN A GOOD TIME
Not everyone in attendance was a wine expert, however, this didn’t prevent attendees from comparing and contrasting. Considered opinions were given on the various reds and whites with Julian on hand to advise and inform on wine growing regions, grape varieties and ‘good’ years.
TASTY EDIBLES
The kitchen staff of Richmond House were responsible for the hors d’oeuvre, which perfectly complimented the vintages. The enthusiasm of patrons intensified with each round of sampling.
JULIAN’S FAVOURITE
Professional wine tasters such as Julian are always asked for the ‘next big thing’. While highly recommending several bottles, his wine of the month, possibly the year, so far is ‘Domaine Mas Bahourat, ‘La Petite Parcelle de Viognier’ IGP Pays du Gard (2021) - available from Bubble Bros, Cork.
