- MARIAN ROCHE

The Mayor of the City and County of Limerick Cllr Daniel Butler, is wishing the thousands of people who have volunteered for this year’s Team Limerick Clean-Up the very best of luck this Good Friday. 2022 is the 7th year of the largest one-day cleanup in Ireland, the Team Limerick CleanUp (TLC).

The event was launched back in January with a number of Limerick celebrities including Galbally’s John Kiely. Mayor Butler said this week that more than 21,000 volunteers had signed up, and he credited the ‘true Limerick spirit’ of the willing volunteers.

“I would like to wish the record number of volunteers who have signed up for Team Limerick CleanUp 7 the very best of luck on Friday. You are the heartbeat of your communities and your communities are only going to get stronger as a result.

“More than 21,000 volunteers across the city and county of Limerick have signed up for this year’s event and it is a credit to you all as you are willing to give up your Good Friday morning to clean up your areas. You are showing true Limerick spirit.”

He went on to thank a number of organisations for sponsoring the movement, including the JP McManus Benevolent Fund and Paul O’Connell for funding and co-ordinating the initiative.
