Innovative new sales apprenticeship programme launched

-

Cork College of FET’s Bishopstown Campus played host to the launch of a new National Sales Apprenticeship Programme on Wednesday morning.

The programme developed as part of Government strategy to address existing and future skills needs across Ireland, aims to ensure a consistent number of apprentices being hired, developed and retained for sales organisations.

The goal for the programme is to deliver committed, adaptable and ambitious employees for the sales sector year on year and features an “earn and learn” approach to delivery where employees are paid, trained and mentored on site by employers for the duration of the programme, in addition to a blend of online and face-to-face classes and workshops.

Apprentices who successfully complete the programme will be awarded a QQI Level 6 Advanced Certificate in Sales and will have the ability to progress to further studies in Higher Education if desired.

This apprenticeship programme is open to a wide range of employers, across all industry sectors, both large and small firms, on a national basis. However, employers in Cork wishing to participate in the scheme must meet a variety of criteria and are asked to contact Cork Education and Training Board who will be in a position to assess their suitability.

The programme is suitable for: School leavers; Career changers; and mature applicants aged 21 or over with relevant work experience without formal qualifications will also be considered via Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) procedures.

This scheme also specifically targets people who wish to commence, develop and/or upskill their career in sales and offers a unique opportunity to learn in a practical, supportive environment while simultaneously working towards a recognised Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI) Major Level 6 Award.
