Outdoor ATM sought for Lismore
An outdoor ATM could be installed on Lismore’s main street following an application for planning recently submitted to Waterford City and County Council.
Euronet 360 Finance Ltd, the applicant, are seeking the installation of an ATM machine on the southeast elevation of ‘ Out of the Closet’, a clothing store on the main street. The planning application also noted that this premises is listed on the council’s record of protected structures.
According to planning documents, there is a demonstrable need within Lismore for an ATM, within the town’s primary retail area.
“Due to the deficit of availability of other cash facilities in Lismore Town, (no other external cash facilities available in the town), it is considered that the addition of an ATM machine in this location would be beneficial especially for the tourist’s as well as to patrons and local businesses alike and there is clearly a demonstrable need”.
The lack of external cash facilities within the West Waterford heritage town follows on from the removal of the Bank of Ireland ATM at their former premises, in line with the closure of several of the bank’s branches, which occurred in October 2021.
Waterford City and County Council are due to issue a decision on the planning application by May 24.
