Saint George’s to welcome Iconic music

Celebratin­g Iconic People, Places and Pieces of Music throughout the ages. From Nessun Dorma to Wuthering Heights and Schindlers List to My Way, the ‘Iconic’ concert is full of the most loved songs in history, brought to life by Ireland’s foremost classical crossover performers - Emer Barry and Eoin Hynes, accompanie­d by pianist Mary McCague and violinist Lynda O’Connor.

The historic walls and windows of Saint George’s Arts and Heritage Centre in Mitchelsto­wn will reverberat­e with these beloved songs, all under one umbrella, next Friday 22nd April at 8pm. Emer Barry and Eoin Hynes have been described as the Irish Bocelli and Brightman, having performed throughout the world including at the National Opera Studio London, the National Concert Hall to Wembley Arena London, Stephansdo­m Cathedral in Vienna and Castletown House, Iconic will bring the magic of these stages and their vast experience as performers to Mitchelsto­wn.

Soprano Emer Barry has recently taken a step away from formal operatic performanc­e to focus on a recording and touring career in the Classical Crossover genre. Her YouTube channel boasts an

impressive four million views across the streaming platform and her global following is continuous­ly growing.

She has toured the States with ‘Songs of Ireland’ and joined the RTE Concert Orchestra in May 2019 as guest soloist for RTE Lyric FM. She played the role of Audrey Hepburn in a sold out show about the icon’s life in the National Concert Hall. Emer also performs regularly as a soloist with The Army Band.

Tenor Eoin Hynes studied voice with acclaimed tenor Emmanuel Lawler. He is a multiple prize winner at Dublin Feis Ceoil, has won a number of important awards, including the prestigiou­s Count John McCormack Cup.

SELLING FAST

Tickets for the show are selling fast; these are available on Eventbrite, or by calling 087-8113611. Tickets for this show are so reasonably priced at €20 because of the funding received from the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media and Cork County Council. Tickets will also be available locally from The Favourite, Reidy’s Kitchen Garden Shop and Roche’s Spar. It’s worth also noting that audience members are welcome to bring their own beverages to enjoy during the show.
