2021 silverware finally celebrated
On Friday night last the Kildorrery Ladies Football & Camogie Club finally got to acknowledge and celebrate the silverware that was won during 2021. A great night from start to finish was had at The Firgrove Hotel.
Thanks to Pat and Brenda Tangney and their staff for the fabulous venue, food and entertainment. Having their daughter Aoife play with our club and receive two medals on the night, made it all the more special.
To commence the evening, Brenda Noonan was our compere and she set the tone for a most enjoyable evening. Thank you Brenda.
Pat Fenton, chairperson, spoke with great enthusiasm and gratitude to all the coaches, players and parents and spoke highly of the achievements of the younger club members during 2021.
Pat spoke of how delighted he was to be chairperson of the club and how great it was to have three pieces of silverware on display.
Pat spoke of how thankful he was to Maria Noonan, as secretary of the club for all the hard work she does behind the scenes.
A medal presentation followed and our guests invited to present the medals were our very own home grown football and camogie stars, Judy and Sally McCarthy. Judy and Sally are long and well established players for the club who achieved so much for their club, division and at county level.
The girls spoke with great encouragement to all the younger players and highlighted how much being involved in Gaelic games has meant to them on a work, educational and personal level.
Sally was joint captain on Sunday last for our U21 combined football team, Funcheon Gaels, who won the county final against Naomh Fionbarra. Huge congratulations to all of the team.
Judy and Sally presented medals to our U12 girls who won the 2021 U12 North Cork D2 football final; they also presented medals to our U13 girls who won the North Cork camogie final in 2021 and finally, to our U14 girls who won the Calor Cup Football League final in 2021.
