First round defeat for U13 footballers

-

Galtee Gaels 0-4 Pallasgreen 5-08

Thursday evening last saw our U13 footballers take on Pallasgreen in the first round of the U13 football championship at home in O’Mahony Park, Kilbehenny.

With a couple of players missing through injury and key players Haulie Gallaghue and Gearoid Russell facing into the 2nd game of the day, having earlier in represented South Limerick Primary schools in the divisional tournament held in Bruff, it was clear Gales were going to have a tough 40 minutes of football ahead of them.

Pallasgreen got on the attack from the outset and despite 2 fantastic saves from Conal Ryan, the ball found its way to the net on the 3rd attempt. Notwithstanding some strong defending by Colm O’Mahony and Jack Prendergast, Gales found themselves behind on a scoreline of 3-4 to 0-1 at half-time.

In the 2nd half Gaels came more into the game with more fine saves from Conal Ryan, some robust defending from Charlie Daulton and Jack Clifford and a couple of well taken scores from Gearoid Russell and Padraig Casey. In the end however Pallasgreen proved too strong and went on to win on a score 5-8 to 4 points.

Team: Conal Ryan, Cullain Russell, Jack Prendergast, Colm O’Mahony, Mossy English, Charlie Daulton, Jack Walsh, Gearoid Russell, Padraig Casey, Jack Clifford, Haulie Gallaghue, Jayden Kiely, Edward Moriarty, Kian O’Keefe, William Lonergan, Robbie O’Brien, Jack Geary, Jamie Kelly.
