Congratula­tions to the Funcheon Gaels ladies footballer­s who won the U21 D County Championsh­ip on Sunday evening against Naomh Fionnbarra. The girls secured a five point win, despite losing a player to the sin bin for a period in the second half.

Well done to the playing panel and to the management team led by Johnny and Leanne. Let’s hope this is the first of many successes.

ST FANAHAN’S JUNIOR CAMOGIE

On Sunday, our junior camogie team opened their League campaign with a visit to near neighbours, Kilworth. The team put in a great performanc­e and secured a deserved win.

The U11 girls made a fantastic start to the new season when Lisgoold were the visitors to O’Connell Park in Mitchelsto­wn, for a challenge match on Sunday. Well done to both teams, who played some great football on the day.
