Vandalism on Mulberry Road ‘a total disgrace’
There was an incidence of ‘significant vandalism’ on Mulberry Road in Mitchelstown last week which has been reported to An Garda Síochána.
Cork County Council confirmed to The Avondhu that all public bins on Mulberry Road were ‘uprooted, damaged and in some cases burned’ in what is presumed to be a case of vandalism.
There was also damage to the bins at the playground and signage was displaced. Cork County Council workers removed the items and now ‘a full assessment will take place, with a view to planning the replacement of affected items’.
Cllr Deirdre O’Brien has deemed the incident as ‘appalling’ and ‘ a total disgrace’.
She praised Cork County Council staff and volunteers who have worked so hard to keep the area looking well.
“It must have been totally disheartening for them to see such a sorrowful sight in the morning”, said Cllr O’Brien.
Members of the public with any information on the incidents should contact Mitchelstown Garda Station.
