Brigown social housing to start ‘before the end of June’
Cork County Council are hoping that a contractor will be on-site to start the social housing development at Brigown, Mitchelstown before the end of June.
“That will be on-site as soon as we can get a contractor appointed. It is certainly our hope that it will be on-site before the end of June,” said Maurice Manning, Director of Services at Cork County Council.
He gave this response to a question raised by Cllr Deirdre O’Brien at Tuesday’s Northern Committee meeting, who said that the people of Mitchelstown are ‘crying out for houses’. On foot of this, Cllr O’Brien asked when would the sod be turned on the Brigown site.
As part of the development, 8 bungalow houses with one/two bedrooms are due to be built, but there have been extreme delays associated with this scheme thus far.
