Fermoy Internatio­nal Garden to host Dandelion Festival

Fermoy Internatio­nal Garden is preparing to host its first-ever Dandelion Festival on Monday, May 2, writesKati­e Glavin.

Kicking off the festival, herbalist Jo Goodyear of Blackrock Herbal Clinic will lead a foraging walk and wild edibles workshop.

Meeting at Glenabo Woods carpark at 11am, the foraging walk will see the exploratio­n and discovery of the abundance of edible plants right under your feet.

From 2.30pm to 3.30pm, Jo Goodyear will also lead an informativ­e and interactiv­e workshop at Fermoy Internatio­nal Garden, exploring wild edibles including the namesake of the festival, the dandelion.

A seedbomb workshop will also take place on the day in the garden located behind the Fermoy CMWS Hall on MacCurtain Street at 12pm.

Alchemy Arts Circus Theatre will take to the garden from 2pm until 4pm for a performanc­e, with Garden Gigs also taking place with the Non Toxic Orchestra performing from 4pm and John Blek performing from 5pm.

While the majority of the events taking place for the Dandelion Festival are free of charge, places must be booked on the Foraging Walk at a cost of €10 per adult (children free) and on the Wild Edibles Workshop at a cost of €5 per adult (children free).
