Art exhibition to launch in Cappoquin

-

The Courtroom Gallery, located at the Market House Craftwork premises in Cappoquin, will host an exhibition of paintings by Leah Murphy and locally based artist Deirdre Dunne, with the official launch taking place this Saturday.

Deirdre is originally from County Laois, but is now based in County Limerick at the foothills of the Galtee mountains. She studied at the Crawford College of Art in Cork and graduated with an honours degree in painting.

Since then she has bicycled through Asia, Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Central America as well as working as a tour guide in Africa and Australia.

Throughout these experiences she has been continuously sketching and painting images from each of the countries she encountered, creating a kaleidoscope of images spanning the globe.

She has exhibited all over Ireland, and was recently featured on Nationwide. She is best known for her paintings of cattle. As she grew up on a farm, she feels most at home painting these familiar animals. Deirdre will also be exhibiting in Mitchelstown Library in June.

The exhibition in Cappoquin, titled ‘Kaleidoscope’, runs from April 23rd until May 14th (Weds-Saturdays 10am-5pm). All welcome to view the works.
