Palace Players announce Fermoy dates

-

Palace Players have been drawn to contest the RTE All-Ireland Drama Festival on Thursday, May 5 in the Dean Crowe Theatre, Athlone. Prior to the final, they will stage their multi award winning play ‘Chapatti’ by Christian O’Reilly in the Palace Theatre, Fermoy on Saturday night, April 30 at 8pm, Sunday (May 1) at 8pm and a matinee on Monday afternoon, May 2 at 3pm (note time).

Sean Ahern and Mary Colbert, who play the parts of Dan and Betty have, between them, picked up no less that eleven best acting awards on the festival circuit. The play’s director Danny Buckley has taken five best director awards and the overall group has won several others, such as ‘best presentation’, ‘best moment of theatre’ and ‘best audience play’ etc.

‘Chapatti’ is a charming but bitter-sweet play telling of loss, love and hope. Romance is a distant memory for both Dan and Betty - two lonely animal-lovers living in Dublin. But when Dan and his dog Chapatti cross paths with the amiable Betty and her nineteen cats, an unexpected spark begins a warm and gentle story about two people re-discovering the importance of human companionship.

Please note that ‘Chapatti’ will be performed without an intermission and contains or references sensitive issues.

Tickets €15 are now on sale at the Palace Theatre box office (02532042), The Avondhu offices in Fermoy (025-32227) and Mitchelstown (025-24451) or call 087-6492514.
