Mossie Coughlan entertains in The Avondhu Bar

- JOHN AHERN

Entertainers endured a lot during Covid and were, as we heard many times, ‘the last to get back’. It’s a relief to them and a source of excitement to the wider public, that these singers and musicians are back on stage, doing what they do best. MARVELLOUS MOSSIE

Mossie Coughlan is a name known to many in Fermoy. Still going strong, he continues to enjoy considerable success as a live entertainer in the USA. Thanks to a personal connection with publican, Richie Flynn, Mossie was persuaded to do ‘one night only’ in The Avondhu Bar last Sunday.

Judging by the scale of the crowd in attendance, Mossie’s appeal is as strong as ever. Accompanied by accomplished drummer, Benny Hoare, Mossie worked his way through an extensive repertoire of 1960s classics, country and western standards, Irish ballads and rebel songs.

Mossie said it was great to be back on familiar terrain and he thanked patrons for turning out in such numbers.
