CLIMB WITH CHARLIE

On April 2nd, the Climb With Charlie up Croagh Patrick took place in aid of Motor Neurone Disease and Pieta House and various walks around Ireland also took place.

In Kilbehenny Community Centre 95 people of all ages registered to climb Galtymore and funds raised were in aid of the Jer Spillane Fund. The total sum raised on the Galtymore climb was €12,450.27. That money has been put into an account in Mitchelsto­wn Credit Union for the Spillane family.

A huge thank you to everybody who climbed, walked, assisted in any way on the day, the volunteers who worked tirelessly in the community centre making teas, etc. to the people who donated cakes, etc. last by no means least to the organisers Carmel and John O’Gorman, Mitchelsto­wn together with Moss Fitzgerald and the team in Kilbehenny, your profession­alism and dedication to the cause has been exemplary.

This same group of organisers are planning a walk to the Galtees for the emergency services that assisted the late Cora O’Grady, who sadly passed away on the Galtees while taking part in the Walk With Charlie. The plan is to have this fundraiser in mid-summer. More informatio­n on this fundraiser to come in the weeks and months ahead, watch this space!

BCB HERITAGE GROUP PHOTOGRAPH­IC EXHIBITION

On Saturday, April 30th at 8.15pm and Sunday, May 1st at 11.30am, BCB Heritage Group are holding a photograph­ic exhibition reflecting the history of Ballyporee­n over the past 100 years. This heritage group would appreciate if people could bring along photos on the day. Photos will be copied and returned immediatel­y to their respective owner.

BINGO

Bingo continues every Sunday night in Kilbehenny Community Centre at 8pm. Great prizes on offer. Thank you to everybody who supports this Bingo, your support is greatly appreciate­d by all concerned.

LITTER PICK UP

Thank you to everybody that took part in the Limerick Litter Pick Up on Good Friday. A lot of litter was picked up on the day. Well done to young and not so young who came out to do this very necessary job.

ICA TOUR TO KILKENNY

There has been a slight change to our Kilkenny tour. We are now going to Kilkenny on Thursday, May 26th for a day trip. Anyone interested please phone Mary O’Brien on 087-2422660.

Congratula­tions to the U14 and U16 girls on their recent success.

DANCE

For all the dancing enthusiast­s, Declan Aungier will be providing the music on Friday night, 22nd April in Kilbehenny Community Centre. Dancing commencing 9pm and admission is €10. The usual tea and treats served. As always, the organisers appreciate your valuable support down through the years.
