ACCIDENT AT CHURCH ROAD
Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of a single vehicle road traffic collision that occurred on Church Road, Mitchelstown at approximately 3am on Tuesday morning.
It is understood that a bike was also involved in the incident, but exact details are unconfirmed at the time of going to print.
Although no injuries were reported, a forensic investigation was carried out at the scene. As a result, the road was closed at Church Hill from both directions for much of Wednesday and there was a Garda presence at the scene throughout the day.
Reports were circulating in the town and on social media that there had been a fatality as a result of the incident, but this was unconfirmed. According to Gardaí, investigations are ongoing.
