Vital Under 19 Hurling League points for Killavulle­n

Killavulle­n 2 - 14 ‘Shandrum 0 – 17 Killavulle­n were close winners over ‘ Shandrum in the Co Under 19 HL North 1 Group 1 game at Killavulle­n on Thursday evening. Exchanges were close all through. Kian Lane and Kieran Murphy were in great scoring form for their respective sides. Sean Bartley opened up well for Kian Lane who soloed and pointed.

The Dromina/Newtown side edged ahead with points by Kieran Murphy and Rory Troy. Kian Lane levelled from a free. They were also level 0-3, and 0-4 each. ‘Shandrum edged ahead with points by Kieran Murphy. Michael Cagney had a point for the home side. ‘Shandrum led 0-9 to 0-7 coming up to half time. Killavulle­n had a goal by

Oisin Larkin that had them 1-7 to 0-9 clear at the interval.

On the changeover Kieran Murphy levelled from a ‘65 and the same player followed with a free and Jamie Reidy made it 0-12 to 1- 7.

Both sides exchanged points with defences very solid. Kian Lane with two frees had the sides deadlocked 0-14 to 1- 11. Killian Quinn and Colm Tynan had a point each for the visitors. In the 5lst minute, Michael Cagney had a very good point for Killavulle­n.

Good play by Robert Troy led to a point by Rory Troy as ‘Shandrum moved 0-17 to 112 clear. Kian Lane followed with a good point after being put through by Colm Hannon. Good play by Ronan Barry saw Kian Lane level for the 6th and last time 1-14 to 0-17. Oisin Larkin had his second goal after a long range free by Ronan Barry. Killavulle­n held out for a close win.
