Congratulations to all finalists
ACORN VETERINARY SPONSORED TOURNAMENT
Finals night took place on Friday, April 8th. Martina Gould and Susan Cotter won the Division 2 Ladies final against Maria O’Connor and Joanne Cotter, 6-4 6-4. It was a very competitive game and great entertainment from our new members, promising signs for the future!
In the Division 1 Ladies final, Fiona Hagensen and Emer Finnan versus Kay Ryan and Helena O’Brien were next on court, but unfortunately after 20 minutes the match was abandoned due to injury - congratulations to all on reaching the final.
On court 2, David Grumbridge and Calum McClean played a very competitive game of singles. Having tied at one set all, we were treated to an enthralling championship tie break with Dave coming out on top. Thanks to Acorn Veterinary for their generous sponsorship and to Noel Ahern and family for attending on the night for the presentation of prizes.
Olivia and Majella were complemented on the night for their organisation skills. Thanks also to the supporters who turned up on the night. The club would also like to acknowledge all those who travelled to Youghal representing the club in the John Hunt Memorial Tournament. Suzanne, Kay, Majella, Olivia, Mick S, Michael and Dave were unlucky not to advance having reached the semi-finals of both the cup and plate competitions, there’s always next year!
