Great win for Kilworth U13s

-

U13S Kilworth 5 Cappoquin 2

Kilworth U13s’ maintained their 100% record after a hard fought win at home to Cappoquin. A very tight first half saw Kilworth ahead 2-1 thanks to an own goal and a goal from Conor Lynch and Sean Cullinane giving the visitors a torrid time down the right wing. However, Cappoquin were unlucky having hit the bar with a shot from distance and had a penalty brilliantly saved by Jack Cotter.

The second half saw Kilworth extend their lead through goals from Conor Lynch, Killian Ball and Luke Browne, before Cappoquin scored late to make the final score 5-2 to the home side. The result puts Kilworth 6 points clear of second placed Brideview who have two games left to play, one of which is against Kilworth in Tallow.

BIG SHOUT OUT TO OUR SPONSOR CAMIDA.COM

Great match tonight between our U13 girls and Mallow United in Sheila Flynn Park. Played in a great spirit, and a credit to both squads. Thanks for travelling to the best village in the country, Mallow! U12S - NISSAN FERMOY CUP

Kilworth travelled to meet Lismore in the U12 Cup. Missing a few regulars, Kilworth quickly went about their work and created a few chances, these falling to Luke and Bailey after a great ball from Dominic.

Lismore opened the scoring with a scrambled effort before the break. Senan came on a put in a good stint at left back. Luke was very unlucky with a chipped effort from 25 yards shaving the post right on the stroke of half-time.

Kilworth started strong in the 2nd half and made more chances, with Aaron unlucky not to get on the end of No 2. In the 45th minute a great ball from Bailey was headed into the corner of the net by Roan. Lismore then had a goal chalked off for offside. A few more chances fell to Kilworth but none were converted. And so we went to extra time.

In the 8th minute Roan again got on the end of a goalmouth scramble to poke home his 2nd.

The 2nd half of extra time showed some great defensive play by Justin, Paudie and William, a solid assured display in goals by Darragh and great work in the middle by Sean and Oran. A late goalmouth scramble had hearts in mouths, but as darkness fell Kilworth prevailed on a 2-1 scoreline.

Great credit to all 12 lads who played their part in 80 minutes of football. The quarter-final v Ballyduff awaits.
