U15s suffer defeat to Douglas

-

U12 BLACKWATER MOTORS CUP Fermoy 3 Castleview 2

On a beautiful Friday afternoon Fermoy hosted Castleview. From the beginning the Fermoy boys played exceptionally well.

Castleview scored the first goal, but it only gave more courage and confidence to the Fermoy boys and they finished the first half 1-1 with Finn’s goal.

They didn’t disappoint in the second half either. Goals from John and Ger sealed the win for the Fermoy team.

U15 Douglas Hall 5 Fermoy 2

An eagerly awaited league fixture that ended in a crushing defeat for our lads in a rain soaked Douglas Sunday morning.

The first 10 to 15 minutes were quite frantic and fairly even, with both sides struggling to get a foothold in the game. We didn’t seem to display our usual quality and composure on the ball and our decision making could have been better. A fantastic 25 yard strike found the top right hand corner to give Matthew in the Fermoy goal no chance. Unfortunately towards the end of the first half we conceded again.

Early in the 2nd half, Senan pulled one back from a set piece to give the boys hope. It was short lived as Douglas capitalised soon after to go 3-1 ahead. Another mistake led to Douglas extending their lead to 4-1, before Sean pulled another back with 10 mins remaining. Paul then drove forward and unleashed a shot that wrong-footed the goalkeeper, only to be ruled offside which looked harsh!

Our lads threw everything at Douglas in the last 10 mins and were left exposed on the counter, which Douglas took full advantage of.

U11 SCHOOLGIRLS

The Fermoy FC U11 Schoolgirls played their neighbours, Park Utd on Saturday in Carrig Park.

We played two 8-a-side games with 20 of our girls playing 35 minutes or more. Team 1 were narrowly defeated with goals scored by Cliona Wall and Emma Mannix.

Team 2 were victorious with goals from Erin O’Mahony, Anna McCormack, Alexandra Strojenska, Caoimhe Kelleher and Isabelle Cunningham. Well done girls.

U13A

The Fermoy U13A team drew 3-3 draw away to Macroom on Saturday. The team rallied at half-time after conceding 2 first half goals.

Good team spirit was shown in the 2nd half and ensured Fermoy gained a share of the spoils. Goals came from Killian Maguire (2) and Malik O’Reilly.

U11

The U11 team travelled to Cork to play College Corinthians A. We played 2 x 8-a-side games.

The conditions were perfect and both sets of teams played some really good football. Good tackling and smart use of the ball, this was a really positive outing and these lads are really going in the right direction. So keep it up and keep training lads.

Also to continue providing and improving the quality of facilities for these players, we need the support of all the parents and friends of the club to join in the fundraising and help in the completion of our new astro development. You can get a book of tickets from any of the coaches or purchase online. FIXTURES

Saturday Seniors home to Lakewood 3pm.
