U13 BOYS

The U13 Boys have had a busy time of it recently, with plenty of action in the league gradings stage of their Rebel Og North competitions. On March 23rd, they travelled to play Kilworth Araglen Gaels in football but were well beaten on the night on a scoreline of 6-11 to 3-04. They followed this up with another football encounter against Kildorrery on March 26th. They put in a much improved display but lost out 2-09 to 1-04. They played the same opposition in hurling on March 31st and in another close game, lost out 4-09 to 2-04.

Their most recent game against Charleville in the football league saw them continue to improve, losing out to some late scores on a 5-12 to 3-08 scoreline. The final grading game in hurling takes place on Saturday next against Liscarroll Churchtown Gaels. While the lads will be disappointed not to have registered some wins, they can be happy in the knowledge they continue to show great signs of improvement and when the leagues are redrawn at the end of the month, they will be able to start afresh and look forward to the rest of the season.

U15 BOYS

The U15s have been really busy, with four games played since the last update. They hosted St Colmcilles in the hurling league in Ballyhooly on March 23rd and had a resounding 8-08 to 4-04 win. They followed this up a week later with an impressive 5-06 to 0-02 win over Whitechurch in their next hurling league game. They played Brian Dillons at their venue on April 6th in their latest football league encounter, winning on a 7-10 to 0-07 scoreline. They suffered defeat to Ballygarvan on April 13th in their last hurling league encounter, losing 2-13 to 1-09 in the Ballygarvan venue. Some very impressive performances and it is very evident this team are growing all the time. They face further league games in the next week.

U17 BOYS

The U17s had two games since the last update. They travelled to play St Kevins in Milford on March 27 and despite a great performance, they were made pay for the concession of a few goals as they lost out 5-05 to 1-13. They then played St Dominics in Ballyhooly on April 1st, and despite another strong performance, they emerged the wrong side of 1-17 to 1-10 scoreline. They have further league games in both codes in the coming week and are definitely on the right track.

U15 BOYS FEILE HURLING

It was a memorable weekend for our U15 hurlers. They played host to the group stage of Division 4 Féile hurling in Ballyhooly on Saturday. They played three games.

The first game was a 1-00 to 0-03 draw against Kanturk. They followed this up with a hard fought 1-05 to 2-01 victory over St Kevins. The final game of the day saw them defeat Whitechurch on a 6-08 to 0-03 scoreline to qualify for Monday evenings County Semi Final. This was held in St Vincents GAA Grounds in Cork City, and in the semi-final, they defeated Ballygarvan on a scoreline of 0-14 to 1-03. This qualified them to play St Vincents in the final. However, it was hearbreak for our lads who lost out by 4 points to the home side in a well contested final.

The lads should be very proud of a fantastic effort and were a credit to themselves and the club over the weekend. Thanks to the mentors and all who showed support for the team. A particular thanks to everybody who volunteered on Saturday to help run off a very well run event.

U15 LADIES FOOTBALL FEILE

Our U15 LGFA team put in a tremendous performance on Easter Monday at the North Cork Divisional Feile in Banteer. They played the home side in the opening game, losing out by a point in a tight affair. Their second game saw them convincing winners over St Marys. The final game was a winner takes all encounter, with the winners going through to the final on the day. Araglen Desmonds Bui provided the opposition and in game that ebbed and flowed, our girls were most unlucky to exit after losing by 4 points. Despite this, they should be very proud of how well they played and they continue to go from strength to strength. A huge thanks to all mentors, players and those who came out to support. Thanks also to Banteer who hosted the competition, which was run off very efficiently.

U12 GIRLS FOOTBALL

The U12 Girls are playing in Group 2 of the league. They played their first game against Mitchelstown earlier this month, and while they played some great stuff, they just lost out to the home team. The girls have plenty of more games to come and we know they will continue to work hard and will eventually get their rewards.

U14 GIRLS FOOTBALL

The U14 Girls got their Group 3 League campaign under way last week, playing host to Knocknagree. They played some fantastic football, securing their first league victory of the season. They have lots of action to look forward to in the next two months, with league games coming thick and fast. They can take great confidence from their league win, as well as a good victory in a challenge against Kilavullen recently.

U16 GIRLS FOOTBALL

The U16 Girls will start their league campaign against Mitchelstown in Castletownroche on Wednesday, April 27th, with a 7.00 throw-in. They have been working hard in training and it will be great that they will finally get to see some league action to put this hard work to good use.
