April showers

-

The golfing year moves onwards with the only factor which Ireland guarantees – widely variable weather. This past week has seen weather from all seasons.

Despite the (intermittent inclement) conditions many golfers took to the course and a good turnout was seen for the 18-hole open competition over the Easter weekend of 15th/16th/17th. The Texas 2 ball scramble also proved popular on Easter Monday, 18th April.

With the longer daylight hours our Tuesday 12-hole competitions and our Wednesday qualifiers sponsored by Kearys are also proving popular. The winner of the latter each week qualifies for a final to be held in September.

With recent heavy rain the fairways have softened up a little so preferred lies have continued, but please check the noticeboard before play each time for subsequent changes.

The greens are playing well and are in excellent condition, but please be reminded to repair pitch marks, replace divots and rake bunkers after use.
