Great win for United

EAST CORK OIL U15 CUP Brideview Utd 3 Inch Utd 2

A real thriller of a game here played in Leonard Fraser Park on Tuesday night last which kept the fans on their toes right up to the final whistle. Brideview came out on top after this five goal thriller.

All the goals came in the first half. A Ray Nugent free was brilliantly headed home by Billy Murphy after 12 minutes. Then Inch struck twice in as many minutes to go in front.

Then in the 24th minute a cracker of a free kick by Billy Murphy ended up in the top corner of the Inch net. Now it was 2-2 and all to play for.

With just 7 minutes of the first half remaining a great cross from Murphy saw Wall take the ball down and crash it low to the net to put the Tallow side back in front. At the break they led 3-2.

The second half was nerve wracking as both teams went flat out for a win. Brideview held out and advanced to the next round after a terrific game of football from two very sporting teams.

Utd (all played): Alex Good, Cian Murphy, Dean Cronin, Billy Murphy, Aidan Murphy, Jack Henley, Gearoid Hynes, Danny Power, Joe McDonnell, David Wall, Ray Nugent, Ben Sheehan, Sean Murphy, Nathan Mason, Isaac Almeida.

CELEBRATING 50 YEARS

The club are celebrating 50 years in May and the club are also doing two fundraisers which will help to finish off the dressing rooms that sadly burnt in a fire last May. A committee has been set up to look at the above.

We would like to thank the people who are giving ideas and advice to the committee who will be announcing some functions and yes a raffle where you could win a weekend in Limerick, Galway or Dublin. More on this next week.
