Morgan Fox, Derrylahan, Mitchelstown - an appreciation

-

The recent sad passing of Morgan, so widely known and respected, has left a void in our community never to be filled. A man of the land, Morgan was hard working and dedicated to running his large dairy farm over the years. In more recent times he was joined by son Paddy and together they have built up a modern, efficient dairy enterprise the envy of all.

Memories of Morgan’s great interest in farming activities go back many years. As we walked home from Knockadea School past Morgan’s home, he would be out in the spring enquiring if any lambs had arrived on our farm on the hills. The answer was always no. We would be so jealous of Morgan’s lambs always arriving first.

Morgan will be greatly missed by many people, friends and neighbours. His name has been on our lips for a generation. Most of all he will be missed and mourned by his devoted family, his greatest legacy.

To his dear wife Monica, a kind and gentle lady of highest degree, we extend deep sympathy. We love to have you Monica on our trips away. You are so engaging and your interest in history is infectious.

Sympathy is also extended to Morgan’s two sons, Morgan and Paddy and their partners Ellen and Maria. Two finer lads your could not find. Cool, calm and intelligent, they both sailed through secondary school at CBS Mitchelstown without a hitch. They have lots of friends from these good days, friends for life. In a class of nearly 70 Paddy was top.

Sympathy is extended to Morgan’s illustrious brothers and sisters wo each in turn have contributed so much to the Fox dynasty. His brother Professor Fanahan is a legend of University College Cork in the dairy science department.

So Morgan, we send you a final farewell may you rest in peace, assured that all you stood for and all you achieved will be carried on by your wonderful family. Ní bheadh do leitheád ann arís. T.O. (across the fields)

 ?? ?? Morgan Fox RIP.
