Opening of Supermac’s in Kildorrery to bring 12 jobs

- MARIAN ROCHE

Kildorrery is to expand its offerings to both locals and

passers-by as a brandnew branch of Supermac’s is to open in the village this summer.

The popular fastfood restaurant will be opened in a unit at the Circle K petrol station, and will create 12 new jobs in the locality. A franchise with the O’Sullivan family, the restaurant will offer chips, chicken and burgers via Supermacs, pizza via Papa John’s, and the customer’s choice of dessert at an Ice Cream Parlour. Seating for 44 people will be provided, with 26 indoors and a further 18 outside. Kildorrery will be home to the 14th Supermac’s in Cork, and there are currently 117 branches throughout the country.

Local businessman Ger O’Sullivan said he was excited to be teaming up with the Irish franchise. The business in Kildorrery was established in 1951 by Charlie and Lena O’Sullivan, and is now operated by Ger and Anne O’Sullivan, with help from the third generation in Eimear and Cathal, so it is very much a family business.

Mr O’Sullivan said how much he was looking forward to working with the franchise.

“We are very excited to be teaming up with Supermac’s. It is a national brand, but it is also a family business, which is important to us. The Supermac’s name is synonymous with quality food, supporting Irish farmers and strong community involvement and these are all things that we as a business stand for as well.”

“We currently employ 24 people on site, and this will bring to 36 the amount of people employed in total. Combined with the 18 employed in our sister company, O’Sullivan Coaches, it means we are continuously looking for the right people and we have many exciting roles throughout our business.”

GREAT ADDITION

Managing Director of Supermac’s, Pat McDonagh said that the addition was an ‘exciting’ one for the company.

“It is a testament to the hard work and commitment to their business that Ger and his family are expanding their existing business, and I am delighted that Supermac’s is to be a partner in this. Supermac’s Kildorrery is a great new addition to the Supermac’s family in Cork, and I look forward to working with Ger and the team with this new and exciting venture.”
