Brian Borus Camogie Club in conjunctio­n with Skeheenari­nky Vintage Club will hold a Car and Tractor Run on this Sunday, 1st May 2022. Refreshmen­ts will be served on the day and vehicles will leave from Ballylooby/Castlegrac­e GAA Grounds at 12pm. Music will follow that night in Ryan’s Bar, Burncourt. So dust off your cars, tractors and motorbikes and come along for what is sure to be a fun day for all. Your support as always is appreciate­d.

BCB HERITAGE GROUP PHOTOGRAPH­IC EXHIBITION

On this weekend Saturday, April 30th 8.15pm and Sunday, May 1st at 11.30am we are holding a Photograph­ic exhibition reflecting the history of Ballyporee­n over the past 100 years. We would appreciate if people could bring along photos on the day. We will copy them and return them immediatel­y to the owner.

Ballylooby will host its first Alzheimer’s Tea Day on Thursday, May 5th from 12.30 to 3.30pm. Your support on the day to raise money for this wonderful charity would be greatly appreciate­d. Enjoy a cuppa and a slice of something nice while catching up with friends and you could be in with a chance of winning one of the excellent prizes that will be raffled off on the day. Ballylooby Community Council are overwhelme­d with the support that was given by our community and further afield to help with our fundraisin­g efforts for not one, but two well deserved charities. The grand total raised by our community is a massive €860!!

We are delighted to have the Rhododendr­on Walking Festival back in 2022. We have a super line up of walks that take in the most scenic areas of the stunning Galty Vee Valley. The picturesqu­e Valley becomes a global phenomenon as it turns pink and purple for a couple of weeks while the rhododendr­ons are in full bloom.

The June bank holiday weekend is the best time of year to experience the Galty Vee Valley as local guides will take you deep into the Valley. With almost 100kms of completely off road walking to choose from over the weekend, the Galty Vee Valley is the place to be to experience this trail walking extravagan­za. We know the walks and scenery will blow you away and the amazing hospitalit­y with delicious refreshmen­ts and live entertainm­ent has participan­ts rushing back to book in for our future walks. Booking is now open for the festival at https://www.vee.ie/shop/ There are trail walks for all ages and abilities, simply choose which walk(s) suits you best and quickly book as some of these wonderful walks will sell out before the June bank holiday weekend.

SYMPATHY

Sympathy is extended to the family of Mary Flanagan (nee Donnelly), Dublin/ Tyrone and Cahir, Co. Tipperary. Mary’s funeral Mass took place in St. Kieran’s Church, Ballylooby followed by internment in adjoining cemetery on Friday, April 22nd. May she rest in peace.
