Juniors’ first outing

-

OUR PLAYING FIELDS

Can you please make sure the playing fields are booked well in advance for training and matches. Also, when your team has finished training or matches can all rubbish be collected please. A lot of empty bottles have just been dumped at the dugouts and the sides of the field.

SENIORS

Our Seniors had 2 good workouts over a 3-day period over Toomevara and Ballinhassig. Both games were played in Tallow. Good to see a former trainer of Tallow down on Sunday morning at the Toomevara game. Mick Mangan trained Tallow in 2011 when we were beaten by Ballygunner in the county final. He is now helping out with the Tipp side.

JUNIORS

Our Juniors had their first outing of the year over the weekend when they played Mellerary in a friendly last Friday evening in Tallow. The junior selectors for 2022 are Dennis Martin, Johnny Geary and Joey Power.

DEFIBRILLATOR

The defibrillator is now in place and anyone who received training will be given the access code. Again, a big thank you to Fiona and Brian Henley of Highpoint Engineering for sponsoring this and for Joanne Hickey for doing the training. It’s still not too late if you wish to avail of the training. Please contact Joanne.

MUNSTER CHAMPIONSHIP

I travelled to Limerick Saturday night for the second round of the Munster championship. Having seen this Limerick side in action now 3 times live they are a pleasure to watch and talking to Limerick supporters they know they have a once in a lifetime team and are enjoying it. For Waterford we gave everything and when the 2 goals went in the Mackey Stand atmosphere was electric. Hopefully we will meet them again later in the season. Next up is Cork in 3 weeks. Lindsay will be on about ticket details to members in due course.

PRIMARY GAME

Well done to Katelyn McCarthy who played at halftime in the Primary game in Limerick last Saturday night. A proud day for the McCarthy and Ryan families. Hopefully she will follow her uncle Tomas’ footsteps in playing senior for Waterford.

WATERFORD U15S

Joseph McDonnell, Paul Henley, Jack Henley, Billy Murphy and Aidan Murphy all lined out for Waterford v Clare on Saturday in 2 U15 friendlies in WIT. Best of luck in your development in the season ahead all.
