DEFIBRILLATOR IN GLENROE GAA FIELD

We are delighted to announce that a new defibrillator has been securely fitted to the exterior wall of the clubhouse, adjacent to the main pitch. All essential contact details and our club’s Eircode are displayed next to it.

JUNIOR BS MAINTAIN THEIR WINNING START TO THE LEAGUE

The Glenroe Junior B team continue their fine form with a superb performance over an impressive Castletown Ballyagran team in Glenroe on Thursday. They got off to a rocky start with a goal for the visitors inside five minutes but Glenroe regained their composure with some well taken points with Glenroe scoring 0-12 points in the first half and only one of these from place balls, Liam Dennehy scoring three and Tommy McDonnell and Cillian O’Brien grabbing two each also. The scores at half time was 0-12 Glenroe to 1-7 Castletown/ Ballyagran.

The second half Glenroe showed their fine form that has brought them so much joy recently, scoring 1-2 with no reply in the first five minutes of the second half. This relentless scoring power kept going with Cillian O’Brien adding to his tally with a fine taken goal just past the halfway stage in the second half and quickly followed by Liam Dennehy hitting the back of the net to stretch Glenroe’s lead. It wasn’t only in attack that Glenroe were impressing with only 1-3 conceded in the second half with some strong defending on display. Glenroe finished off an incredible second half display with Shane O’Donoghue getting in on the act with a goal also and Glenroe finishing with a second half tally of 4-11.

The final score was 4-23 to 2-10. Some excellent displays from Liam Dennehy, Cillian O’Brien, Tommy McDonnell, Shaun Moloney and Shane O’Donoghue.

PREMIER INTERMEDIATE FINISH STRONGLY TO BEAT EFFIN

The Glenroe Premier Intermediate team had fine victory over Effin in Glenroe on 19th April. Liam Dennehy gave them a perfect start with a goal inside the first five minutes. Effin were proving tough opposition to shrug off but some excellent scoring from the forwards in particular Mark O’Connell who scored two from play and two from free to have Glenroe leading by four points going into the break. The scores were Glenroe 1-8 Effin 0-6.

Effin were not going away matching Glenroe halfway through the second half for scores keeping the four point deficit. However, Glenroe showed their class to pull away towards the end of the game with a combination of some excellent free taking by Mark O’Connell and a fine display of scoring from Eoin Walsh picking up four second half points. In this period Glenroe outscored Effin 0-12 to 0-5. Some excellent defending resulted in a clean sheet for Ian O’Sullivan with some great protection from the backs in front of him also. The final score was Glenroe 1-20 to Effin 0-11.
