Next meeting for Fermoy Active Retirement coming up

Fermoy Active Retirement group are meeting on Wednesday next, May 4th at 2.30pm in Fermoy Youth Centre. Guest speaker on the day - Lisa O’Brien, health, aromathera­py, Reiki and massage therapist.

Our last meeting had a capacity audience, Michael Lyons Pharmacist (Fermoy) spoke at length on the benefits of sleep and the lack there-of. The quality of your night’s sleep will have a big impact on the quality of your day. 7-8 hours of quality sleep is recommende­d, not less than 6 hours. Sleeping tablets are for short term use only, as they do not give quality sleep and can often interact with other medication. Many thanks Michael.

We welcomed some new members to your last few meetings. We were represente­d at the regional meeting in Kilkenny by Marie Byrne our chairperso­n and Mabel Scanlan. National A.G.M. 24/25 May in Trim, Co Meath, all members are welcome to attend.

Kurling - next play Tuesday, 3rd May at 11.30am in Fermoy Youth Centre. new players always welcome, just €2 incl tea /coffee, very competitiv­e, good fun and exercise, do come and play. Knitters needed for chickens in aid of Marymount Hospice. Group meet in Fermoy Library Tues 3-4pm, or knitting can be done at home, a very worthy cause, do come and join in.

Outing to Kinsale and Charles Forth Wednesday, 11th May. Cost €35. Money in envelope to be paid at next meeting 4th May, only paid up members eligible to travel. Holiday to Galway, Connemara and The Aran Islands. Based in Clayton Hotel, Galway (4 star). Tues 5th/8th July €475 p/p 3nights/ 4days, with a very full itinerary, some places still available. Lots of activities and fun for the seasons ahead. Stay safe everyone.
