€3.6M for imminent roadworks

Road resurfacin­g is due in several locations in The Avondhu area, commencing this May and taking place over the next four months. Lagan Asphal Ltd will be undertakin­g the work on behalf of the council with a €3.6 million contract.

The road resurfacin­g will cover 23 kilometres of rural and urban roads throughout North Cork.

In TheAvondhu area, the roads that will see works include Ballyviste­en in Kildorrery and Carrigdown­ane Upper outside Glanworth. In Mitchelsto­wn, Beechwood Grove and Edward Street will see improvemen­ts, as will Glocca Maura-Caherdrinn­y. Works are to take place in the villages of Glanworth, Kilworth, Ballynoe, Bartlemy, Rathcormac and

Conna, as well as Duntaheen and Clondulane South in Fermoy.

The scope of the works includes road resurfacin­g, major road reconstruc­tion, traffic-calming measures, drainage and associated works to enhance the road network and improve safety. Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr. Gillian Coughlan, said the works will make ‘a huge difference’ for residents and visitors.
