€3.6M for imminent roadworks
Road resurfacing is due in several locations in The Avondhu area, commencing this May and taking place over the next four months. Lagan Asphal Ltd will be undertaking the work on behalf of the council with a €3.6 million contract.
The road resurfacing will cover 23 kilometres of rural and urban roads throughout North Cork.
In TheAvondhu area, the roads that will see works include Ballyvisteen in Kildorrery and Carrigdownane Upper outside Glanworth. In Mitchelstown, Beechwood Grove and Edward Street will see improvements, as will Glocca Maura-Caherdrinny. Works are to take place in the villages of Glanworth, Kilworth, Ballynoe, Bartlemy, Rathcormac and
Conna, as well as Duntaheen and Clondulane South in Fermoy.
The scope of the works includes road resurfacing, major road reconstruction, traffic-calming measures, drainage and associated works to enhance the road network and improve safety. Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr. Gillian Coughlan, said the works will make ‘a huge difference’ for residents and visitors.
